The Why Behind Crista's Work
One of the things I'm most passionate about is partnering with founders to create success that's truly sustainable.
I've seen far too many brilliant founders sacrifice their health, relationships, freedom, and fulfillment for their business thinking that it will come on the other side of the next big milestone or goal.
But the goalpost keeps moving and they often end up giving up the very things they started their business for in the first place.
To me, business has always been a part of something much bigger.
It's part of living a Rich Fulfilled Life™ which is the philosophy that guides my work and that's especially critical in a founder-led business.
In a founder-led business, the overlap between business and life is more significant so you can't create a clear business vision without understanding what a Rich Fulfilled Life looks like for you in this next season of success and scale.
So that's where we start every engagement...
Because I know it's possible for business and life to be rich and fulfilling together without having to sacrifice "today" for the hope of a better "tomorrow".Â
I believe that scaling a business and becoming the visionary who can lead it can be one of the most exciting and exhilarating adventures of our life.

This is what I live and breathe today, but it was a windy road getting to this place...
The Catalyst For the Work Crista Does With Founders
One of the most important chapters of my entrepreneurial journey came while I was first scaling my international jewelry brand.
At the time, I felt like I was doing all the right things, but no matter how much I did, my big bold vision still seemed just out of reach.
I worked around the clock, living on little sleep, loads of caffeine, and a whole lot of hope and determination.
I consistently felt overworked and overwhelmed, and found myself wishing there were more hours in the day and more profit in the bank.
I kept taking on more thinking I would eventually get ahead but after a couple of years, all I had to show for it was a whole lot of debt and being on the verge of burnout.
I had to take a hard look at everything to understand why the other businesses I was consulting with were scaling so successfully when my own was struggling.Â
What I found was that I had scaled far too quickly.
And while I realize that sounds like a problem most businesses wish they had, it wasn't as glamorous as it sounds and it almost put me out of business.
Because without taking the time to do the critical step to simplify the business and put the right structure in place first, I'd inadvertently scaled all the inefficiencies and complexity.
Everything became more expensive, more difficult to manage, and nearly impossible to sustain.
Even though the business looked wildly successful from the outside...
We were exhibiting at major trade shows, working with top influencers, worn at all the big events and festivals, and carried by the leading retailers in our niche like Free People.
But, behind the scenes... the business was draining me and all consuming. Things felt very far from a Rich Fulfilled Life.
That experience changed the way I thought about scaling and ultimately led me to create the Lean Scaling System™, the foundation of the work I do with founders today.
I've become completely obsessed with leading businesses to achieve sustainable success...
Because success is only sustainable when it's aligned with the founder’s evolving vision.
That's what Lean Scaling has always been about...
Scaling in a way that's simple and sustainable so founders can live a Rich Fulfilled Life instead of feeling trapped inside the business they created.

A Few Things About Crista Beyond Business
Outside of my work, you'll usually find me drinking espresso, creating new jewelry designs, exploring emerging technology, learning about ancient civilizations, adding to my ever-growing gemstone collection, getting an energy healing, traveling to exotic places (the total eclipse in Mallorca and Egypt are up next!), floating in the pool, or curled up with my dog and a great book immersed in the world the author created.
Here Are Some Fun Facts:
- Led the first ever espresso bar and the first drive through coffee shop in the state of CT
- Has seen Bret Michaels in concert more than 100 times (and counting!)
- Published one of the first body positivity magazines (before "body positivity" was a thing)
- Won the Young Authors of CT award for a Nancy Drew style mystery novel I titled "Mystery of the Missing Brooch" (apparently it's always been about the jewelry :D)
- Grew up wanting to be an archeologist and geologist so I could discover ancient ruins and play with rocks all day (now I kind of do that anyway)!
- Was a photography major in college but realized I loved doing all the styling and creative direction for our brand photoshoots instead
